November 2005

Even though it had snowed two days earlier, Thanksgiving day was sunny and 62 degrees. It was a perfect day for a Thanksgiving dinner under the pavilion. We had over 40 people for the Thanksgiving dinner covered dish - and there was enough food for many more. And, as usual, everyone ate way too much! The Andrew Hardy family from Cocoa, Florida were back for another week at Mountain Stream. Andrew deep fried a couple of turkeys for the covered dish dinner. If you've never had fried turkey, you don't know what you're missing. It gives the turkey a very different taste that is REALLY good! The Hardy's have already made their reservations for Thanksgiving 2006, so we can look forward to more fried turkey for next year's Thanksgiving covered dish dinner.

October 2005

We frequently have clubs or groups come into the park to spend some time together at Mountain Stream. But there was "thunder in the valley" when this group from SuperPerformance came in with their Cobras.

We had lots of entrants for our Halloween pumpkin decorating contest. There were scary pumpkins, Pac-Man pumpkins, funny face pumpkins, illuminated pumpkins, but the winner was a pop-up pumpkin created by the Toney family. The pumpkins get more creative each year - we can hardly wait to see what folks come up with next year!
